Welcome to our Brampton KS1 virtual class book!
Due to the fact parents, carers and families are unable to come into school and see the wonderful learning that is going on within the classrooms, we have decided to put photos that we would usually put into our class scrapbook onto our website to share with you all.

Our Class Rules!
When we started in September, as a class we came up with our own set of rules to make school a happy and safe place to learn. Once we had decided on the rules we wanted, we stamped our hands as a way of agreeing to follow the rules.

Star of the week!
After a fantastic first week back, Miss Foster gave us all star of the week because we settled into school amazingly and we all worked really hard. We are so glad to be back in school!

Leaf Hunt
In science, we are learning about plants and trees. We went on a leaf hunt and had a go at identifying the different leaves we could find in the school grounds and in the woods. We then looked at which ones we thought were evergreen and which were deciduous.

Cross Country Competition
We have been working hard in our PE lessons training to enter a virtual cross country competition with other schools in North Suffolk. We all tried really hard and thoroughly enjoyed taking part and kept pushing ourselves to beat our times. We entered our times and are waiting to hear how well we did.

Jonah and the Whale
In RE, we have been looking at why Jewish people repent at Rosh Hashanah. Jonah and the Whale is a story that is shared by Jewish people during Rosh Hashanah. We looked at the image and made some predictions on what the story could be about. Then we read the story and talked about what Jonah did wrong and how he repented to make up for those bad deeds.

Place Value
In maths, we have been doing lots of work on place value. We have been using Dienes blocks, numicon and multilink to make a variety of numbers. Some of us even managed to make some 3 digit numbers!

Toys from the Past
In our topic lessons we are looking at the history of toys. We had great fun looking at the responses and photos and videos that were sent in by parents and grandparents and wanted to share this display we made thanks to the information and resources you provided!

Victorian Toys
We have been exploring toys from Victorian times and we had a go at making our very own kaleidoscopes. We talked about how they didn't have electrical toys so they had to make things using paper, wood and metal. We were really pleased with the outcome.

Testing the absorbency of different materials
In science we have been looking at different materials and we conducted an experiment to see which material absorbs the most water. We used pipettes to drop water onto the material and counted how many drops it took for the material to break. It didn't quite go to plan so we will try a different experiment next week.
