We played Anglo- Saxon top trumps

Cherry class enjoyed a visit from Jo Carr who is part of the Red house Museum in Aldeburgh. He brought along a selection of replica and actual Anglo Saxon artefacts that the children were able to look at and handle. We played a class game of top trumps working out how rare and delicate each item was.

Anglo Saxon Music

We were treated to a reading of an Anglo Saxon poem which told a very exciting story of monsters and mystery. After hearing the poem we split into groups to create music to be played during the reading of verse of the poetry. Some very dramatic and mystical sounds were performed in keeping with the story.

Jo then played some Anglo Saxon instruments including the lire, the horn and the pipes. Using modern equipment we were all able to create our own pipes and had great fun trying to play a tune on them.
