British Science Week in Cherry Class.
During the last week of the spring term we celebrated British Science Week. In Cherry Class we have been exploring the question 'How do humans and other animals move?' We have been looking at the skeletons of humans and other animals and discussing how they enable movement. We spent a day exploring owl pellets and carrried out an owl pellet dissection, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The children were owl pellet detectives and found and identified many animals bones which they put together to form part of the skeletons of rats, mice, shrews and voles. Many skills were demonstrated by the children: fantastic observation, identification and classification skills, alongside some great team work and reasoning - giving the scientific name for each bone and explaining how they identified the bone and why they thought it's shape enabled it to fulfil its role.
Some super science - well done Cherry class!
