Children's University

childrens-university

The Children’s University develops the love of learning in children. Children who participate in Children’s University have the opportunity to learn in a rich range of contexts and experience new places and activities. This adventure introduces children to the joy of learning, brings a sense of wonder in the world around them and develops their confidence and aspirations.

At Brampton Primary School, we encourage and celebrate participation in extra-curricular activities in and outside of school. Once the children have signed up, they receive a Passport to Learning, where they collect stamps on each occasion they learn through an extra-curricular activity. At the end of the school year a graduation ceremony is held to recognise and celebrate their achievements.

It is really easy to take part in Children's University. All you need to do is fill in a form which you can get as a paper copy from Miss Wood in year 3 and 4. You will then just need to pay £5 to receive your passport and then you can start earning Children's University credits towards your graduation next year.

Graduation 2021/22

On Tuesday 5th July 2022, children and their parents attended the Children’s University Graduation held at Thorington Theatre. The graduation was a joint one with the other schools in our association and the children and their parents spent a lovely evening celebrating their many and varied achievements.

Over the course of the last year, the children have been earning hours by taking part in extracurricular learning activities and they have all worked really hard in order to get to at least 30 hours which gets them a bronze award. The Children’s University develops the love of learning in children and they have the opportunity to learn in a rich range of contexts and experience new places and activities. Our children completed a wide range of activities including sports clubs, dancing, gymnastics, horse riding, drama, visits to local places, learning through craft activities and online activities and music lessons.

Our graduation was held in the beautiful setting of Thorington Outdoor Theatre and the children were able to dress in their graduation gowns, sashes and caps and receive their certificate in front of very proud parents and staff.

Well done to all our graduates. It was fantastic to see so many children enjoying themselves and celebrating their learning. They will no doubt continue to earn their hours towards next year’s graduation and will inspire others to take part in Children’s University.

Challenge Sheets

These challenge sheets are produced regularly and contain lots of ideas for activities to complete at home that can earn you credits in your passport. The activities are really interesting and cover all sorts of things so you are bound to find something that interests you! All you need to do after completing your chosen activity is record it in your passport,  bring what you have done into school or take a photo or video of yourself doing the activity and send that to school (send to brampton34@greatwoodsprimary.org) and we will then stamp your passport showing the hours you have earned.
